ESET researchers have identified an unusual phishing campaign targeting Android and iPhone users with a technique that installs a phishing app from a third-party website without requiring the user to allow third-party app installation. The phishing app mimics real banking apps using a Progressive Web Application (PWA). The researchers found the campaign initially targeted clients of a Czech bank and was facilitated using automated voice calls, SMS, and social media advertisements.
