The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared a global public health emergency due to rising cases of the mpox virus. The only vaccine currently available is Jynneos by Bavarian Nordic, which is scaling up production after a 160% spike in cases, particularly in Africa. The company aims to create 10 million doses by 2025. US firm GeoVax is also planning to increase capacities with its GEO-MVA vaccine, while Moderna is testing an mRNA vaccine in the UK.
Bill would expand access to digital therapeutics
Sens. Capito and Shaheen reintroduced the Access to Prescription Digital Therapeutics Act of 2023, aiming to expand access to FDA-approved software treatments for Medicare patients.
