A cyber attack on National Public Data (NPD), a background checking service also known as Jerico Pictures, has resulted in the leaking of personal data belonging to nearly three billion people. It is one of the largest breaches in history, with leaked data including social security numbers, addresses, and full names. A class action lawsuit has been filed, but NPD has yet to confirm the attack. The lawsuit alleges that the stolen data was offered for sale on the Dark Web for $3.5 million.
