AG warns consumers to protect data after McLaren cyberattack

Attorney General of Michigan, Dana Nessel, is advising residents on how to protect their personal data following McLaren Health Care’s latest IT disruption due to a cyberattack. This comes after 2.5 million McLaren patients’ data was breached last year. While currently without laws requiring the state to notify of significant breaches, Nessel urges residents to safeguard their accounts diligently. Recent data breaches have also affected Ascension Health and Michigan Medicine.
