Software Maker MCG Health Settles Data Breach Suit for $8.8M

Software vendor MCG Health will pay $8.8m to settle a lawsuit over a 2020 hacking incident. The lawsuit alleges that it took MCG, part of the Hearst Health Network, two years to identify and report the data theft, which affected 1.1 million people. The company denies any wrongdoing. The agreement includes providing enhanced cybersecurity measures and payouts of up to $1,500 or $10,000 to affected individuals.
