Less than two days’ worth of O negative blood left, NHS warns

The UK’s National Health Service Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has appealed for group O blood donors to help boost stocks and meet rising patient needs. NHSBT Chief Executive, Dr Jo Farrar, says there is a critical need for O-negative blood in particular and has made an additional thousand weekly appointments available. Donor numbers have declined after the NHSBT stopped accepting walk-in donations in 2016.
