Indonesia’s Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) experienced a major disruption due to a ransomware attack on June 20. The attackers partially encrypted the centre using LockBit malware, demanding about $8 million ransom. As no backup copies of the data existed, data could not be restored. An audit of national data centers has been ordered by President Widodo and mandatory backup requirements are being implemented.
