Modified criteria helping Mass General treat pediatric allergic reactions

A team from Mass General Hospital has developed modified criteria to improve the identification of anaphylaxis in infants and toddlers, a group historically difficult to diagnose. The research, published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice, calls for training clinicians to recognize and manage anaphylaxis in young patients. The team’s criteria was able to identify 98% of anaphylaxis cases, notably higher than the current national standard’s 85% rate.
