Stakeholders Suggest Changes to CISA’s Cybersecurity Reporting Rule

Healthcare stakeholders, including the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI), have raised concerns about the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s proposed rule on cyber incident reporting for critical industries. They suggest avoiding duplicative, burdensome, and complex reporting requirements, which could affect operations, particularly during cyber-attacks. They also recommended synchronization of reporting machinery with existing laws like HIPAA and adjustments to terms and conditions considering ransomware attacks or targeting small physician offices.
