APRA “has observed weakness” in data loss protection – Cybersecurity

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has stressed the importance of data backups in preventing and mitigating cyber attacks. In its latest communication, the authority highlighted the evolving cyber threat landscape and said that APRA-regulated firms must remain vigilant, implement risk mitigation strategies, and periodically self-assess against established information security practices. The body noted some common weaknesses in industry practices and promised to share insights to help firms bolster their cyber defences.
