Healthcare data breaches in the US have fallen for the second consecutive month, reaching the lowest monthly total since October 2023 with 51 breaches, 22% lower than the 12-month average. Despite this, the number of breaches up to May 2024 is up 22% year-on-year. Notably, two breaches compromised nearly 5.4 million records, but the 51 total reported breaches impacted 8.5 million individuals, down 44.8% from April 2024 and 60.6% from May 2023.
