3 million iOS and macOS apps were exposed to potent supply-chain attacks

For around 10 years, thousands of iOS and macOS apps have been exposed to potential supply-chain attacks owing to undiscovered vulnerabilities. Researchers discovered that a “trunk” server managing CocoaPods, which underpins around 3 million apps, had flaws that malicious actors could exploit to add harmful code. The security weaknesses could have given hackers access to users’ most sensitive data, enabling them to carry out various forms of cybercrime.
