Cybersecurity roundup: U.S. to ban Kaspersky antivirus; Cost of healthcare breaches way up

The White House has announced a ban on new sales of Kaspersky Lab antivirus software due to security risk concerns about the Russian company’s software compromising critical US infrastructure. The ban applicable from September 29, amidst growing tensions between the US and Russia, is set to be contested in court by Kaspersky Lab which insists it has no government ties. The ban follows a similar action by the Department of Homeland Security in 2017.
