Small practices left vulnerable after Change Healthcare cyberattack, with some considering bankruptcy

Small medical practices are under financial stress due to a cyberattack, according to the American Medical Association (AMA). Among the concerns reported in an AMA survey conducted from March 26 to April 3 were ongoing suspension in claims payment, inability to submit requests, and being unable to verify benefits eligibility. Furthermore, some practices were forced to utilize personal funds to cover expenses or borrow to keep the business afloat.
