Newly discovered ransomware uses BitLocker to encrypt victim data

A new piece of ransomware called ShrinkLocker uses the BitLocker feature in Windows to encrypt victim’s data. BitLocker is an encryption system that debuted in 2007 with Windows Vista. The ransomware was discovered by security researchers from Kaspersky, who named it ShrinkLocker due to its use of BitLocker and the fact it reduces the size of each non-boot partition by 100 MB. So far, systems in Mexico, Indonesia, and Jordan have been targeted.
