Blimey! If you’ve been following the cybersecurity news, you may have heard about the recent hullabaloo concerning Cencora and The Lash Group. It’s been a real kerfuffle, with both companies notifying state attorneys about breaches in their data.
Way back in February, the cat got out of the bag that Cencora (once known as AmerisourceBergen/Lash Group) had an issue with cybersecurity. They discovered that some of their data had been nicked, which might contain personal information. As soon as they got wind of this, they jumped straight into action – they started an investigation with a little help from their friends in law enforcement and some cybersecurity whizz-kids.
Luckily, this whole mess hasn’t wreaked too much havoc on the company’s operations, and they’ve managed to keep their systems running smoothly. But they’re still not sure whether this incident will hit them where it hurts – in the purse strings.
Now, let’s chinwag about The Lash Group. They work hand in glove with pharmaceutical firms, pharmacies, and healthcare providers, helping folks get their mitts on therapies through services like drug distribution and patient support.
Their investigation revealed that some personal and health information may have been affected by the breach. Things like names, DOB, health diagnosis, and medication details could potentially be at risk. But they’ve been quick to put minds at ease, assuring everyone that there’s no concrete evidence pointing towards a public disclosure or fraudulent use of compromised info.
Naturally, this sparked a bevvy of questions – was a ransom paid? How many clients were impacted? And the biggie – who’s behind this cyber attack? The Lash Group are keeping their lips sealed for now, and the mystery miscreants behind this chaos haven’t piped up either.
So, what do we know up to now? As of today, it seems as though 14 clients of Cencoro/Lash Group have already notified state attorneys about the breach, and the count of affected patients has reached 542,062.
Those affected include an array of Texans, a fair few New Hampshire residents, and some folks from Massachusetts whose names didn’t make the cut. And given that we’ve only got partial numbers for now, it’s a safe bet that the full count will be a fair sight higher.
And there you have it, the tea on the latest cybersecurity saga. It’s clear that in our digital world, minding our data is more important than ever. Let’s hope the good guys can get ahead of the game and keep our information well out of arm’s reach from cyber scoundrels in the future. Until next time, keep your wits about you, folks!
