Long COVID can lead to persistent neuropsychological symptoms like memory problems and slowed cognition, and it can alter brain anatomy. Studies found that vaccines significantly decrease the chance of developing long COVID but do not exacerbate symptoms in those already suffering. However, a small number of individuals developed a syndrome similar to long COVID after receiving mRNA-based vaccines, including potential long-term neurological complications. This connection is still being studied.
