What We Learned: Change Healthcare Cyber Attack

The February cyberattack on Change Healthcare, owned by UnitedHealth, led to the potential leak of sensitive health information of millions of Americans onto the dark web, despite the company paying a ransom. It’s estimated a third of the nation’s population may have had their data leaked, with no guarantee more won’t be leaked. UnitedHealth was criticised for its lack of multifactor authentication in its security system. The Energy and Commerce Republicans have been studying the attack and helping practices process reimbursements. Revelations emerged in a hearing with UnitedHealth CEO Sir Andrew Witty.
