NHS Dumfries and Galloway has apologised after a cyberattack gave hackers access to confidential medical records. The attack began in February and was announced mid-March. The hackers, INC Ransom, have released a “proof pack” of six patients’ records. It remains uncertain which data was downloaded due to the massive volume of information accessed. The health board urged vigilance for unauthorised data access and reported that measures were being implemented to mitigate further risk.
