Walmart has announced it will close its Health and Virtual Care centres in five US states after failing to find a profitable business model. The 51 centres were founded in 2019, but struggled with a challenging environment and substantial operating costs. All staff will either be offered transfer or severance pay after a 90-day period. Walmart said it would concentrate on expanding the offerings of its 4,600 pharmacies and more than 3,000 vision centres nationwide instead.
