A self-replicating USB worm created in China may still be active on millions of devices worldwide, years after its creators lost control of it, according to researchers at security firm Sekoia. The worm, known as PlugX, infects USB drives which then contaminate any new machine they connect to. Seventeen countries account for over 80% of the total infections and are located where the Chinese government has major infrastructure investments, and consequently, strategic importance to military goals.
