Stanislaus Surgical Hospital (SSH) in Modesto, California, is to lay off 191 employees, approaching the date the CMS said it will end the hospital’s Medicare contract. The facility has been found noncompliant with Medicare requirements in areas such as post-surgical patient care and infection control. SSH hopes to retain 15 to 20 workers while it appeals the decision.
