Penn Medicine has launched an AI-based chatbot to support patient needs during the postpartum period. Called Healing at Home, the programme uses an intelligent conversational agent to answer patient questions around the clock. Under the programme, 70% of patient questions are correctly answered by the conversational AI, freeing up the clinicians to handle more complex cases. Penn Medicine’s AI initiative has achieved high engagement and patient satisfaction rates, and has improved the identification of postpartum hypertensive disorders.
