Scientists from Zhejiang University have created a new delivery method for CRISPR-Cas9 which is more effective at treating lung cancer than lipid nanoparticles. By treating tumour cells with rapid liquid nitrogen, they can be used as carriers for gene editing tools, while maintaining their structure and surface receptor function. The team found that this technique, termed “cryo-shock,” was effective in targeting the lung and extending survival time in a mouse model of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
