UnitedHealth Group reportedly paid Blackcat ransomware group $22m to recover data and systems of its subsidiary, Change Healthcare, according to a post on an online forum popular with cybercriminals. A cryptocurrency tracking firm’s analysis indicates a considerable transaction with the cybercriminals; approximately 350 bitcoins were transferred from one digital wallet to another associated with Blackcat. UnitedHealth did not comment on the alleged ransom.
