But let’s be clear, this isn’t just about the cash. This number doesn’t even start to tabulate the knock-on effects. We’re talking about businesses grinding to a halt, productivity plummeting and a hefty bill for getting everything back up and running. The pesky cyber gang, ALPHV-BlackCat, were bold enough to take a swipe at MGM resorts. Even though MGM managed to resist paying the ransom, they still took a hit, to the tune of over $100 million in damages.
Fancy a glance at such audacious attacks? Oh, they’ve charted this for you, highlighting the increasing number of cyber-gangs, the average ransom demands and how frequently they’re dipping their hands into the proverbial cookie jar.

The cybersecurity world has proved time and time again that it can, and will, rise to the challenge.
