Stanford Medicine Children’s Health has leveraged AI and natural language processing to strike a balance between maintaining privacy and sharing crucial health information for teenage patients. AI was used to monitor provider notes and patient portal communications, ensuring sensitive health information authorisation and parental involvement were within the bounds dictated by law. The project resulted in the detection of widespread inappropriate access by guardians and helped optimise provider documentation.
