An international group of scientists has identified 13 biomarkers to more accurately predict heart disease risk for people with Type 2 diabetes. The biomarkers, particularly N-terminal pro b-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), could help clinicians predict disease risk in a diverse population. Current risk scores are considered outdated. The study involved researchers at Johns Hopkins University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Lund University in Sweden.
