With improved access to vaccines and antivirals, the chances of severe COVID-19 have reduced drastically over the past four years. However, the long-term risk of “long COVID” remains significant and its effects may define the cost of living with the virus in the long term. Vaccination can reduce the chances of developing long COVID, but consensus on the effectiveness of these interventions is lacking. The incidence of new cases is less, but there still remains a significant number of patients dealing with long COVID. Recovery rates remain modest and long-COVID clinics continue to be overbooked.
