The UK Government could save billions of pounds by updating old IT systems, addressing infrastructure maintenance backlogs, and managing large infrastructure projects better, according to the National Audit Office (NAO). NAO head Gareth Davies called for a new approach to major projects like HS2 and the new hospital building programme to control costs. He also identified procurement, asset management, and reducing fraud and error as areas for potential savings.
