OurCare Quebec: ‘Patients are frustrated and afraid of what is to come’

Quebec healthcare professionals are striking for improved pay and conditions amid systemic failures. Recent reforms centralise healthcare decisions to a new entity, but lack the required addition of more medical professionals, leaving patients frustrated. A main concern is that half the provincial budget is spent on healthcare, with only 5% dedicated to primary care, restricting access to the system. The system’s reliance on doctor-entrepreneurs and private healthcare, making doctors the second biggest expense after hospitals, is also problematic.
