Google researchers have built an AI model that proved more accurate and empathetic than physicians during virtual, text-based consultations, according to a study on arXiv. The AI outperformed human doctors in 24 out of 26 conversational measures, such as demonstrating empathy and making patients feel comfortable. The AI also excelled in all six diagnostic categories. However, the researchers caution these results as the technology is experimental and hasn’t been tested on actual patients.
