A security consultant has warned that gangs operating with the approval of Vladimir Putin, and operatives supported by Iran and North Korea, pose risks to the UK’s critical national infrastructure. Martin Riley, director of managed security services at Bridewell, said ransomware attacks could have a devastating impact on public services. Research shows that UK organisations experienced a 62% increase in such attacks between 2022-2023.
