Four Chinese individuals were arrested for using Microsoft’s ChatGPT AI, developed by OpenAI, via VPNs, to deploy ransomware within a Hangzhou firm in Zhejiang Province. The charges related to fraudulent use of the AI service, which is officially inaccessible in China. Three of the individuals, already implicated in other cyber crimes, were found in Beijing, while the fourth individual was found in Mongolia.
