Cybersecurity firm ReasonLabs has discovered a large-scale cashback scam within torrented video game files, primarily affecting those downloading pirate copies of popular games like Grand Theft Auto V and Assassin’s Creed. The malware poses as VPN solutions, performing questionable financial activities and compromising personal data. Initially advertised as legitimate security tools on the Chrome web store, these pose as VPN extensions and invite further malware installation.

The U.S. CISA updated its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog, highlighting several critical vulnerabilities including Apache OFBiz (CVE-2024-45195), Microsoft .NET Framework (CVE-2024-29059), and Paessler PRTG
