iOS 16’s Lockdown Mode feature, while helpful in some cases, is not an antivirus and cannot prevent malware. Hackers can create a fake Lockdown Mode and run undetected malware, reports Jamf Threat Labs. One possible abuse includes changing how Lockdown Mode works in Safari to view PDF files. However, researchers stress that Lockdown Mode stopped the BLASTPASS chain of exploits delivering the Pegasus malware in September.
