Cyber attack brought ‘significant disruption’ to St Helens Council

A report reveals that between August 17 and 21, the council was hit by a cyber attack, resulting in data theft and “significant internal organisational disruption”. While the attack was successfully contained by August 21, it might have been a precursor to a larger cyber event. The council is now in recovery with a plan to return to full business and bolster security to prevent future attacks.
