Study estimates the life expectancy and years of life lost by autistic people in the UK

Autistic people have a reduced life expectancy, but not as dramatically as earlier estimates suggested, per a study led by UCL researchers. Autism is not thought to directly cut life expectancy, but difficulties accessing support and health care can contribute. The team found a lesser life expectancy for men of 74.6 years and women 76.8 years, against a UK average of 80 for men and 83 for women.
