Data breaches in the higher education and training sector cost $3.7m on average in 2023, down from $3.9m the previous year, according to a report from IBM. The study analysed 553 organisations across 16 countries that experienced cyberattacks between March 2022 and March 2023. The education sector is a frequent target for hackers, but situations where breaches are reported by third parties tend to be costlier to resolve.
