77% of Payment Apps Are Susceptible to Data Exfiltration Malware

Norwegian app security firm Promon has found that, of the popular payment apps they studied, 77% lack sufficient protection against malware, making them vulnerable to multiple types of attack. Despite the apps’ vulnerability, passwords were not easily obtained through simulated attacks. Nevertheless, only about 4% of the apps had strong enough security mechanisms to withstand serious malware attacks.
