Norwegian app security firm Promon has found that a basic screen reader tool was able to mine and remove the username and password from 76.7% of the 73 most-used payment apps. Just 4.1% of the apps demonstrated a clear defence against the screen reader’s attempts. Promon warned that malware gaining access via such a tool can steal sensitive information and potentially control a device.
