Ransomware attacks successfully encrypted data in 75% of cases involving healthcare organizations in 2023, up from 61% in 2022, according to Sophos. The rise is attributed to faster attack timelines. However, a smaller percentage of these organizations were affected (60% in 2023, down from 66% in 2022). Only 24% disrupted an attack before data was encrypted, and for 37% of attacks, data was stolen. Respondents who paid ransoms fell from 62% to 42% as their recovery strategies changed.
