Huawei phones are flagging Google apps as malware

Several Chinese-built smartphones, including some models from Huawei, Honor and Vivo, are reportedly displaying a warning that the Google Android app is potentially malicious and a “security threat”. Google said the warning was not triggered by its Play Protect feature and recommended users contact their device manufacturer. The alert appears to be coming from the Huawei Optimizer app. The general consensus is users can ignore the warning as a likely false positive.
