Avast confirms it tagged Google app as malware on Android phones

Avast’s Android antivirus SDK has been flagging up Google’s mobile app as malware on Huawei, Vivo and Honor devices following an update on 28 October. Affected users were instructed to uninstall the Google app due to threats of secret SMS messages and potential data steal. The issue was quickly diagnosed as a false positive and a fix was issued on 30 October.
