Canada has banned the use of Tencent’s WeChat and Kaspersky’s applications on government-issued mobile devices from October 30, 2023, citing privacy and security risks. The apps will be removed and users will be blocked from downloading them. The ban follows similar actions against TikTok on government devices in February 2023.
