Clinician Shortage Worsens Primary Care Crisis, Experts Reveal

The number of primary care clinicians in the US has consistently fallen since 2014 due to a decline in new workforce entrants, high rates of burnout, and reduced direct patient care time. In 2019, the US lost 10 clinicians for every 100,000 people. Recommendations to tackle the issue include providing more training opportunities, collecting transparent data on the workforce, crafting solutions to high-deductible health plans, and lower administrative burdens.
