A known ransomware group, ALPHV (aka BlackCat), has claimed responsibility for a major cybersecurity attack on MGM Resorts. The breach, which involved social engineering, impacted MGM’s website, casinos, email, reservation, booking and key systems. The ransomware affiliates are thought to be a group known as Scattered Spider. The incident could have financial consequences for the company, including a potential impact on its credit rating. Last year, MGM-owned BetMGM lost the information of 1.5 million customers to hackers.
