Beware of Steam malware – Valve upgrades security following threats, here’s what we know

Gaming platform Steam has been used by hackers to spread malware among gamers. The hack involved compromised Valve accounts of game developers, who then delivered malicious code in updates. In response, Steam has introduced a two-factor authentication specific to game updates, requiring developers to register a phone number with the platform. Despite vulnerabilities to SIM swapping, Valve stated the measure was necessary to keep users safe.
