Medical genetics company Invitae has collaborated with The Outer Banks Hospital to reinforce the efficacy of universal hereditary cancer genetic testing for all breast cancer patients, regardless of their location. The study found that a majority of patients benefited from the knowledge gained from testing, and this influenced their treatment decisions. The results also suggest that adopting such testing universally can optimize care and reduce unnecessary utilization of healthcare resources.
