Chinese cyberespionage group, APT41, used LightSpy surveillance malware to target victims in the Asia-Pacific region since 2018. The group tricked users into downloading a malicious WeChat application. The malware is capable of obtaining and sending sensitive data from the user’s device, including location, payment data, and chat archives. Cybersecurity researchers connected IP addresses, hashes, and malware samples to the same threat group.
